Development of High-Power Ultrasonic System Dedicated to Metal Powder Atomization

The article presents the results of development works and research on atomization process carried out using two prototype high-power ultrasonic systems. Ultrasonic systems have been designed to develop a new metal powder production process; these materials are increasingly used in modern manufacturing processes such as additive technologies or spraying surfacing processes. preliminary studies presented were conducted for water assess effectiveness both verify theoretical structural assumptions. In atomization, wave causes phenomenon cavitation, which leads overcoming surface tension forces liquid its disintegration into fine droplets. important parameters that affect properties produced droplets include, among others, frequency sonotrode vibrations amplitude working plate. As part research, paper selecting geometry different values transducer’s natural frequencies (20 kHz 70 kHz). design process, finite element method was perform harmonic analysis assumptions presented. modeled then waveguides verified experimentally by measuring deflection distribution plate high-precision laser displacement sensor.
